China Attempts To Increase Birth Rates As India Overtakes China's Population

Billions

India is expected to surpass China in having the world’s largest population.

Though both have a population of over 1.4 billion people, China’s birth rate is slowly declining. Projections claim that India will have a population of 1.6 billion people overtaking China at 1.3 billion people by 2050.

Fertility

Fertility rates spiked all over the world. Though the rest of the world’s dwindled, India’s continues to climb albeit slowly. It has reached the point that the population is exact to keep replacing itself. The result is a healthy working age population and low elderly and child populations. It is an excellent economic sweet-spot that mirrors China’s in the past.

China is concerned about its population decline with fears of a dwindling workforce population that may be unable to pay pensions. Ironically it was previously battling overpopulation with its 1 child policy which was abandoned in 2016. China is now endeavoring to encourage its people to have more children which is a goal that has never been achieved before.

Do you think China will ever regain its title as the world's largest population from India again?
