Charmaine Gauci And Cardinal Mario Grech Among Those To Recieve Ġieħ Ir-Repubblika



Superintendent of Public Health Charmaine Gauci and Cardinal Mario Grech were among those to be awarded Malta’s highest honour, the Ġieħ ir-Repubblika during a ceremony in Valletta to mark Republic Day.


Gauci’s team of four other infectious disease health experts were also honoured by President George Vella for their incredible work throughout the pandemic.


Cardinal Grech, previously the Bishop of Gozo, was awarded in recognition of his contribution in the Catholic Church and his pastoral work.


In total 11 persons were awarded The National Order of Merit (Ġieħ ir-Repubblika) and seven others the Midalja ghall-Qadi tar-Repubblika.
