EU Parliament President Metsola In Ukraine, Kyiv For First Time Since War
President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola is visiting Kyiv today for the first time since Russia sent in troops and declared a ‘military operation’ on the country. Metsola said she would “convey a message of support and hope” on behalf of the European Parliament whilst in Ukraine.
Metsola is the first president of an EU institution to visit the Ukrainian capital since Russia launched its lethal invasion on February 24. Her visit comes shortly after President Zelenskyy sent out an open invite to “all friends of Ukraine to visit Kyiv,” but warned that “It can be dangerous here. Because our sky is not yet closed to Russian missiles and planes.”
