Ian Borg Invites Ukranian Prime Minister Zelenskyy To Address Maltese Parliament



Recently appointed foreign affairs minister Ian Borg has formally invited Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to address Maltese parliament in a show of solidarity with the government of Ukraine. Borg announced the news on Facebook, stating that he was currently dialoguing with his Ukranian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba.


Reflecting on their conversation, Borg revealed how the Ukranian government expressed gratitude towards the Maltese for the humanitarian and medical support provided by Malta throughout the ongoing war in Europe.


Borg also said Malta remained steadfast in imposing sanctions in Russia and will continue to form part of the European Union solidarity effort. Referring to Malta's decision not to export Russian diplomats from the country, the Maltese foreign minister said Dmytro Kuleba fully understood the Maltese position.


Kuleba said he would be passing on Borg's invite to Zelenskyy to address Maltese parliament and recommending that he take the offer.
