Jason Azzopardi Fails To Get Elected In Casual Elections

Jason Azzopardi has failed to get elected to parliament after serving in public life for more than 24 years, the politician announced on Facebook.

In what can be seen as a huge upset for the long-standing Nationalist MP and perhaps a lease of life for the party, Azzopardi bowed his head out stating that he would be taking time to focus on his professional career after having ‘sacrificed’ his work in the last couple of years. Azzopardi is the lawyer for the Daphne Caruana Galizia family in the case against murder suspect Yorgen Fenech.

No stranger to controversy, Azzopardi made headlines on several occasions in the last legislature for his vociferous criticism of corruption within the Labour Party. A meeting he once had with Yorgen Fenech many years ago was the perfect fodder for the Labour media to attack his reputation and discredit him as a politician. Internal strife between him and his fellow deputy Adrian Delia also drew much criticism both from Nationalist and Labour supporters.

Do you think Jason Azzopardi is better off outside of politics?
