A total of 612kg kilos of cocaine were intercepted by Customs at the Freeport, making it Malta’s largest ever drug bust. The drugs have an estimated street value of around €69 million.
The packets of cocaine were found by customs officials concealed within pallets carrying cooking oil. Officials noticed something strange after the pallets appeared dense compared to usual.
The haul marks the highest value and amount of drugs ever seized in a single bust in Malta.
