Easter Sunday proceedings in Gharghur were interrupted after a man caught up in
relationship issues threatened to shoot his partner and 3 children under their care.
The 37-year-old man and his estranged wife (both from Gharghur) butted heads after the man had forced her out of the house. The man is reported to have then proceeded to ask his wife to return; only to be met with rejection.
The man’s name as well as those involved will not be published by the court. The man has now been charged with holding the woman and children against their will, possessing a firearm while under suspicion of a crime as well as threatening his victims.
Retired politician and lawyer Jason Azzopardi is representing the victims who were successful in obtaining video footage of the incident.
