A Baby Boy Lives In Corradino Prison With His Mother

A mother of three is currently serving her prison sentence at Corradino Correctional Facility with her youngest boy, who is under one year old. Her two elder children, who are two and three years old, currently live in a residential home. The mother, who is an Ivory Coast national, is serving a 12-month prison sentence after being caught trying to leave Malta with her children using false documents. The baby boy will no longer be allowed to stay with his mother in prison when he turns one, so authorities are trying to contact relatives abroad to avoid having the infant placed in state care. Currently, there are 7 children (under 18) who are in state homes because their parents are imprisoned.
